The Sphere House: Étude for the trust 'Rolling Floor'

Concept

This workshop is about using the spherical floor to experience new encounters with your body and others. And it can be said to build trust in yourself and others.

Process

The workshop takes place by 4 persons per turn (Duration:1 to 1.5 hours)
1. Staff will explain about the Sphere House
2. Try to ride on the floor one by one
3. Let's try to ride with two and walk on the floor
4. Try riding with four people
5. Write down and post what you noticed during this floor experience.

How to participate

Preparation: easy-walking shoes.

 

The work completed during the workshop will be

exhibited in the Chashitsu; it will not be returned to the participants.

*Please do not touch objects hung in the Chashitsu.

*Your cooperation NOT to speak loudly will be highly appreciated.

* The structures of bamboo chashitsu may be fragile and the visitors are asked not to force them to move by hanging or leaning.

 

Timetable

The workshop will take place in the occasion of the Artist's presence during the exhibition period. In the Artist's absence, the visitors can enjoy the chashitsu as a exhibition.

Artist is present on the following dates: July 23-24-28-31, and August 7-8

 

* Details of each program may be subject to change without notice. In addition, the event at this venue may be canceled if a state of emergency or restrictions on the holding of events is announced by the government or prefectural authorities.

* In order to avoid close contact, we are limiting the number of people who can enter the exhibition. For this reason you may have to wait when crowded.

 

About the Artist

Daisuke Nagaoka

Born in 1973 in Yamagata, lives and works in Tokyo. Since completing a Master's program at the Wimbledon School of Arts in London, he has shown his works at numerous solo and group exhibitions in Japan and overseas. Nagaoka constantly faces the relationship between memory and the body to produce experimental drawings capturing the moment of creation and video works. His creative activities also inclulde his traveling public reading project Re-constellation in which people’s memories are connected through reading aloud. He currently works on a new architectural drawing project; The Sphere House.
