The Creation of the Nest of Music

Concept

In 2020, a global pandemic has overwhelmingly increased the amount of time people spend in individual rooms. Along with that, entertainments such as live performances and concerts that are premised on gatherings are forced to stop. Under these circumstances, music also began to "nest". Musical experience in a private space-the existence of each "sound" layer floating without intersecting was felt stronger than before. In the work <pureno> produced by "TURN --LA TOLA" in 2018, threads are connected to each string of the piano and connected to the space (the piano acts as a speaker, and when you play the thread, a sound is produced). It has the concept of turning the entire space into a musical instrument and music. In this workshop "Making a Nest of Music", each participant freely selects the length of sound and line based on this <pureno>, and draws visual and auditory patterns in the space. A landscape of "music" that rises when each "sound" collides, intersects, and resonates. From "Sound Nest" to "Music Nest". The key to the workshop is to shape, experience, and imagine the process.

Process

1. Determine the length of the string

2. Decide the sound to attach the string

3. Determine the position of the space where the string is attached

4. Attach ... Flip the string and play.
